Title : Mirai
Author : Momoru Hosoda
Genre : Children Book
Original Language : Japanese
Published date : October 30, 2018

I admit the reason why I purchased this book is because of the cute cover only! So when I read it, I didn't have high expectations since it meant to be a script instead of fiction.

Mirai is a story about a love that developed slowly between the older brother and the newborn sister.

Kun is three years old when her sister born. Usually having all by himself as a single child, Kun realizes that his parent's attention is no longer 100% for him. His parents seem so busy with their newborn, even grandparents, nobody want to play with him.

Seeking for attention, Kun throws a tantrum, but that even didn't work. Moreover, his parent is shifting their role. Dad will be in charge to take care of them during the day and Mother will go to work.

Everything is not working as Kun wanted but suddenly something magical happened. His dog can talk to him and show him before Kun, Mother, and Dad pour their love to the dog. Kun was stealing their love for the dog. Now Kun can feel what Dog's feeling.

In another occasion, Mirai from the future comes, they have a mission to return the doll to break the curse. Mirai from the future is bigger than Kun and cooler.

Slowly, Kun understands many things in his own way and ready to accept his sister.

Well, the story seems so simple but the Author wrote brilliantly, mix it with a fantasy theme so the -change-to-love process is interesting and entertaining.

This book is a light reading, I can finish it for 3 hours straight and close the book with warm feelings. I recommend this book for a new parent or expectant mother to understand the feeling of 3 years old boy who just have a sister.

On the plus side, I love the detail about Kun's train toys and their new home that seems so cool!

No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai

No Longer Human Author : Osamu Dazai Year 1st Published : 1948 Publisher : Tuttle *** The poignant and fascinating story of a young man who is caught between the breakup of the traditions of a northern Japanese aristocratic family and the impact of Western ideas. Portraying himself as a failure, the protagonist of Osamu Dazai's  No Longer Human  narrates a seemingly normal life even while he feels himself incapable of understanding human beings. Oba Yozo's attempts to reconcile himself to the world around him begin in early childhood, continue through high school, where he becomes a "clown" to mask his alienation, and eventually lead to a failed suicide attempt as an adult. Without sentimentality, he records the casual cruelties of life and its fleeting moments of human connection and tenderness. *** Pernah membaca karya Haruki Murakami? Franz Kafka? The Trial (Der Prozess) by Franz Kafka

Courtesy : wikipedia.org The Trial (Der Prozess) Author : Franz Kafka Year Published : 1925 Origin Language : Germany “I only fear danger where I want to fear it. ” Excerpt From: Kafka, Franz. “The Trial.”  Don't judge me as an avid fans of classics. No, I am not. I am reading almost anything in which I leaded into. For me, reading books is like a meet a destined lover , a serendy pity. My leaded way into The Trial is of course because of Haruki Murakami. Haruki is one of biggest fans of Kafka's litteratures. Later, after reading the trial, i also find the similiarities between The Trial with Albert Camus's the Strangers, If you are fans of Kafka's, you will not dissapointed to Camus.   Just like its title, the Trial is story about Josef K, a chief financial officer of a bank whom struggle with a trial.  On his thirtieth birthday,  Josef K. is unexpectedly arrested by two unidentified agents from an unspecified agency for an ...

Wedding People by Alison Espach

Softcover version It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself. Meanwhile, the bride has accounted for every detail and every possible disaster the weekend might yield except for, well, Phoebe and Phoebe's plan—which makes it that much more surprising when the two women can’t stop confiding in each other. **** The Wedding People Author : Alison Espach Published year : 2024 Pages: 384 Language : English Genre : Literary Fiction, Fiction, Romance Age recommendation: 21...
