12 Angry Men

12 Angry Men (1957)
Director : Sidney Lumet
Casts : Henry Fonda, Lee J.Cobb, Martin Balsam

Not a classic movie, nor vintage but really worth to watch

Few months ago, my friend whom happen a movie freak strongly recommend me to watch this movie. I give it go, and then now  I am happen to review this movie which is meaning that it is a good movie.

12 Angry Men is a very unique movie with a very strong storyline. This movie shot in black and white, one setting -time and place with 12 men as an actors.

12 angry men told us about juries deliberations in a capital murder case. 12 men set in one room to provide a decision after watching, investigating, reviewing a 18years old boy that accussed killing his father where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence.

There are witnesses and evidence strongly shown that the boy is guilty, supported with the boy's very weak aliby . 11 out of 12 jurors immedietly vote guilty and only juror number 8 (Henry Fonda) vote not guilty. They won't come a decision untill all jurors vote one voice either guilty or not guilty.

Knowing that juror number 8 had a diferent vote,  11 jurors try to persuade him by showing evidence and witnesses's witness just in case juror number 8 didn't notice. They asked why he voted not guilty and the juror number 8 answered that he didn't know yet. There is something in his heart telling that he can decide someone's death easily.

Trapped in one small and hot room, with different backgrounds of jurors made the discussion led to 'harsh battle'. There is a juror who hate his son very much and made his personal feeling involved to review the case, there is one juror who arrogant and thinking that their disscussion is wasting him time because he want to catch football game, there is a juror who not serious at all to review this case.

Slowly but progressing, juror number 8 successfully convince another jurors to vote not guilty, even they don't know whether the boy is really not guilty. After the juror's analytical thinking to review the witnessses's witness and evidence, they started to open their mind and see the possibilities that the boy may be is not guilty.

But it is not easy job to convince them, there are some jurors whom stubborn, arrogant and persistent. They closed their sense and judging from what they saw. Thus, made the trapped in one room longer than they expected.

I find this movie is very interesting, especially the fresh idea. The Director didn't need sci-fi theme, great cinematography, lot of explosions or beautiful setting to make this movie as a legend. The storyline, and the commonsense is the core of this movie. Don't think this is a fully human interest movie, it is also a suspense (if you like it that way).

Well, the story is 1 hour 36 minutes, not too long or short but really worth to watch especially for those whom love a stong storyline.

Happy watching!!!

Wedding People by Alison Espach

Softcover version It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself. Meanwhile, the bride has accounted for every detail and every possible disaster the weekend might yield except for, well, Phoebe and Phoebe's plan—which makes it that much more surprising when the two women can’t stop confiding in each other. **** The Wedding People Author : Alison Espach Published year : 2024 Pages: 384 Language : English Genre : Literary Fiction, Fiction, Romance Age recommendation: 21...
