EVERY DAY THE SAME
Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
UNTIL TODAY
And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel goes to the police. But is she really as unreliable as they say? Soon she is deeply entangled not only in the investigation but in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good?

Saw this
book several times at Best-seller rack yet I bought it with free coupons one
year later just because the intruiging cover. That's exactly how I avoid little
white fonts on the cover that written #1 New York Times Bestseller.
The Girl on the
Train is a story about 3 (three) very different woman, Rachel-the drunken and
brokenhearted, Anna-the supperior and individualist, Megan-the free spirit and
lost that tied into one residential area called Witney.
Every day,
Rachel takes a-8.04 train from her flat to London, passing Witney.
Occasionally, the train is stop for few good minutes to change the line at the
Witney. Since then, Rachel who always love trains know by the heart the line of
houses from her train window.
And there is a house number 24, a lovely couple live in
there. Sometimes, the couple had a breakfast on the balcony, or just Jason hug
Jess from the back, or just embrace each other. Rachel even started to
fantasize what Jess favorite thing to do, or the couple do when they are no
where in sight. Rachel also know how inside the house exactly. Even the name,
Rachel made it up.
Until one day, Rachel saw something that made her so
dissappoint and angry. Jess kissing someone else, not Jason. It made her
idealisation of happy couple ruined. Made her so loath Jess, how could Jess
betray Jason-the romantic and great Jason.
Because Rachel’s life is ruined since her ex-husband left
her for another woman, Anna. Until then, it is hard for Rachel to keep sober,
and clear-headed. She losts everything, husband, house and job.
Angry, dissapoint and drunk, that night Rachel coming to
Witney without purpose. She just want to be there, meet her ex-husband whom
also live at the neighbourhood.
But in the morning, she is awake stripped, with blood and
pain in her head. Then, she knows from the news that Jess-whom the real name
is Megan, is missing. The beautiful Megan is missing at the same night Rachel
come to neighbourhood.
Unable to remember what she’s done that night-blackened
out, Rachel try to find a way to remember from coming to police station make a
statement, and get to closer to Jason, and the other man who also involve in
Megan’s life. Miracolously, Rachel find a reason to keep sober.
The story told in the fist person narrative from Rachel,
Megan and Anna with portion of Rachel is dominant. Since it is psychological
thriller, it is sucessfully develop the each of character strongly. Even the
protagonist, Anna, Hawkin made her character so weak, loser, and easy to hated
by anyone.
The twist is also plausible that made me sit at the edge
of chair and didn’t sleep to finish this book. Also, even the first novel, it is well writen and there is no loophole.
I love this book, really worth to read, and no wonder it
is became a popular book. Can’t wait to see the movie.
