It's been a long time since the last time I read classic YA which written by S.E Hinton. I encountered this book on one of biggest bookstore in Seoul, and got discount 70% because the condition is not quite good.

At first, the cover is so 80's, I mean I don't think teenagers in this age will pick this book because of the cover. But the author name is pretty big and bold, and people in my age, who doesn't know about S.E Hinton?

Though not as popular as her first novel, the Outsiders, Rumble Fish has same destiny with its predecessor, become the Motion picture, directed by Coppola.

Even Rumble Fish bring the similar theme with Outsiders, gangster- not literally.

Rusty James is 14 years old boy but due to his circumstances, he only know how to live a hard life. He'd prefer fist over brain, even in his young age, he had a collection of knife cut.

The opening of the book is how  adult Rusty James encountered one of his friends in different city and randomly. Thus, bring back memories when he was 14 years old.

Rusty James always adore his older brother, Motorcycle Boy. Only few person know the true name of Motorcycle Boy, include Rusty James. Motorcycle Boy love to travelling with motorcycle, took off several weeks and come back to their city. He always has his cycle, that's why Rusty James always know when his brother come back.

Every one in the city know Motorcycles Boys and there are only two options to see him. Scare or love him very much. Rusty James always look up for his brother, he believed that someday, he will be like his brother. But no one bought it.

Until one point of life, Rusty James feel it was different that time. His brother cycle was changed and as well as their relationship.

Since the book is only several pages long (144 pages), I cannot share any longer unless i want to spoil it all.

But, like i said before, reading Rumble Fish bring back memories of my joy time reading The Outsiders. S.E Hinton with her brilliant mind was trying to untied the relationship between two siblings. How a younger brother look up to the older and made him bit difficult to find their true identity.

It is common practice in real life. Father and older brother is the closest creature in our home and unavoidably become a central figure to the younger brother.

Talking about diction, what I love about S.E Hinton is her American originality that poured into understandable yet strong choice of words.

Well, since I am her big fan, I guess no point for me to keep telling you about S.E Hinton. It is so subjective.

But then again, how I miss a female writer that write exactly like a male, the S.E Hinton.

I love it :)

No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai

No Longer Human Author : Osamu Dazai Year 1st Published : 1948 Publisher : Tuttle *** The poignant and fascinating story of a young man who is caught between the breakup of the traditions of a northern Japanese aristocratic family and the impact of Western ideas. Portraying himself as a failure, the protagonist of Osamu Dazai's  No Longer Human  narrates a seemingly normal life even while he feels himself incapable of understanding human beings. Oba Yozo's attempts to reconcile himself to the world around him begin in early childhood, continue through high school, where he becomes a "clown" to mask his alienation, and eventually lead to a failed suicide attempt as an adult. Without sentimentality, he records the casual cruelties of life and its fleeting moments of human connection and tenderness. *** Pernah membaca karya Haruki Murakami? Franz Kafka? Like a pacifist version of V in V for Vendetta, Gyuok recruits a trio of office allies to carry out plans for minor revenge.
